Welcome to DEMO 2007!
Welcome to “sunny” Palm Desert, where the attendees are gathering for the start of the DEMO 2007 show, demonstrators are practicing their pitches and everyone is getting excited to see what the “next big thing” will be.
The DEMOblog is the “official” blog of the show, keep coming back here to see some of my comments, or if you feel like posting comments on the demonstrations you see, feel free to post away! The easiest way to find a company to comment on is by typing in the company name in the handy-dandy search bar in the upper right corner of the screen.
If you’ve never been to a DEMO before, welcome! There’s more than just the six-minute demos from these companies, here’s a quick list of things that you don’t want to miss:
* Opening reception – gets rid of the jet lag and gives you a head start on meeting a bunch of the demonstrators before they start to panic too much about their presentations.
* Jam Session on Wednesday night – Another chance to relax after the opening day, and unleash your inner musician. Don’t worry, we won’t be there taking pictures.
* Media Roundtable, DEMOgod awards and closing dinner – Moderator Walt Mossberg and other business journalists chime in on the trends they’ve seen at the show and offer their own opinions. Past panels have been quite lively (I blame the wine), so you’ll want to stick around for these. Plus, find out which demonstrators have beaten the odds and gotten the DEMOgods to shine down on them.
Obviously, the key focus is on the demonstrators and the new products and services they are unleashing on the world. Stay tuned to this space to see more comments from me during the show.
